Want to sell your house quickly? Here are my best Tips to Boost your House Sale in 2016
By Susan Jones @ Ask Susan
Boosting your house sale is what we all want when we list our home for the first time. We all want to get as much money as possible for our home, and we also want to sell it quickly. Knowing exactly how to go about it, can be hard, especially if you’ve never sold your home before. The good news is that you will find 10 tips below, that can realistically help you to sell your house quickly, so it’s taken off your hands for a good price.
1 – Fix those little problems
You know those little problems that you’ve not yet gotten around to fixing? They need to be fixed as soon as possible. That light switch that doesn’t work too well, that door handle that occasionally gets stuck, it’s those little problems that need to be dealt with, before you put your home up for sale. This is because it’s likely that viewers will notice them, and it gives the impression that the home isn’t cared for, or in good condition. Get them done and out of the way, thereby improving your chances of selling at a good price.
2 – Clean your home & sell it quicker
Now this may seem rather obvious, but it’s something that is often forgotten about. Cleaning your home will make it seem cared for, and lighter. It will also show anyone coming into your home that it is worth the effort. No-one wants to visit or even buy a dirty home, so clean it up, and keep it clean and your house will sell faster.
3 – Use blinds rather than drapes
Let the light in by using blinds, and give your rooms more space. Blinds don’t take up as much room, they let the light in when they’re open, and they make the room look bigger. Install some if you can, and use them to your advantage.
4 – Update your lighting
Those dusty old lighting fixtures won’t be doing you any favors . Update your lighting, buy fixtures that look clean and fresh, and you’ll be thankful you did. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on your lighting, sometimes just replacing the bulb will help.
5 – Update your kitchen
It’s time for you to get rid of those worn out cupboard and drawer handles, and replace them with something new. Again, you don’t have to spend a lot of money doing this, but updating your kitchen this way will make it look so much better and help your propety to sell faster.
6 – Give each room a purpose
The spare room that is now a dumping ground could be tidied up, and made to look like it’s an office. Alternatively, you could take those boxes off the bed, put the contents of the boxes in storage, and make viewers think you use it as a bedroom. This will increase the chances of your 4 bedroom house looking like it has 4 bedrooms, making it more likely to be sold as such.
7 – Cut the grass
It doesn’t matter how big your lawn is, make sure you cut the grass so that it looks good and tended to. If you have a lawn at the front of your house, it will be the first thing that people see. Cut the grass, get rid of those pesky weeds, and let the lawn help you to sell your home.
8 – Grout your bathroom
After a while, bathrooms can look a little worn. Re-grout your tiles for a fresher, cleaner look, and shine up the bathroom mirror too. Hide all those extra shampoo bottles away, and clean your bathroom thoroughly. You will breathe new life into your bathroom, and make a good sale much more likely.
9 – Paint your doors
Paint your front door, paint your back door, paint your bedroom door. Paint all of your doors so that they look good, and inviting. If you can only paint 1 door, paint the front one, as it will be one of the first things people see. Then, paint the back door as that will be noticed too. A well painted door that looks good can add a lot of value to your home.
The above 9 tips can help you to sell your house fast, so that things move along a little quicker. The nicer your home is, the better chance you have of selling it quickly at the best price. You may also get a better price for it too, as viewers will see its potential, and that will appeal to them. Looking after your home even if it is up for sale, makes viewers think that it’s worth more money, and that’s never a bad thing.
